Alan Wade Ruark, 52, well known resident of Fishing Creek passed away peacefully at USMC Dorchester, on February 11, 2017. He was the son of Dorothy “Dot” and the late William T. “Billy” Ruark, Jr.

He was born December 20, 1964 in Cambridge, MD. He graduated from St. Clair Special Education School. He attended Delmarva Community Services program for many years.

Alan was a devoted member of Hosier Memorial United Methodist Church in Fishing Creek. He would serve as co-chairman of box socials and other activities. He loved making cakes for activities and events for his community including the church, Fire Company, National Outdoor show, funerals, and other celebrations.

Everyone knew Alan as a very sociable person. He made phone calls to check on people and enjoyed visiting nursing homes. To him no one was a stranger. His hobbies were bowling, shopping and listening to his all time favorite singer, Loretta Lynn.

Surviving are his mother, Dorothy Ruark; brother Tom and Betty Ruark of Mardela Springs; two sisters Darlene Ruark and Sharlene Ruark of Fishing Creek; niece Beth and Chris Wolf of Sterling VA; nephews Jon and Erin Ruark of Herndon VA and Will and Kristyn Bradford of Felton DE; 2 aunts; several cousins; great nieces; a great nephew, and numerous friends.

Preceding him in death was his father William “Billy” Ruark, Jr.; sister Debbie Hansen; nephew Brady Bradford III; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Sunday , February 19 at Hosier Memorial United Methodist Church beginning 2:00 pm with Rev Doug Ridley officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:30 till the service begins.
