Allan Mills Keene, 92, of Golden Hill passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 14, 2021 at Peak Healthcare at The Pines.
Born September 12, 1928 in Golden Hill, he was the son of Eber Aileese Mills Keene and Oscar Allan Keene. He attended the local schools and graduated from Cambridge High School Class of 1945.
After schooling Allan began his career as a truck driver with Brohawn and Haddaway. Allan spent his entire life in Golden Hill with the exception of his stint in the US Army from December 1950 until being honorably discharged in 1953. Upon returning home he continued as a truck driver and mechanic for several trucking companies in the area. He never retired from trucking and was still active up to recently driving for Chesapeake Wood Products.
In 1961 Allan married Leola Long Fisher of Furnace Mountain Virginia. Leola passed away October 11, 2001.
Preceding Allan in death besides his parents and wife are several cousins including John Keene who also was a very close friend.
Surviving are several second cousins including Danny Keene whom he was especially close to; a very good friend Dell “Pineapple” Kailianu; along with his devoted friend Norma Van Schaik.
A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021 beginning 1:00 p.m. at Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock with military honors. Officiating will be Pastor George Wheatley.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Allan should be made to Oak Grove Church Foundation Inc. c/o Jeanne Phillips, Po Box 40, Fishing Creek, MD 21634.
