Allen “Buddy” Turner Hurley, 95, of Vienna, MD passed away on May 14, 2017 at Candle Light Cove, Easton, MD.
Born on March 12, 1922 in Cambridge, Maryland, he was a son of the late Henrietta Winifred Turner and Allen Phillips Hurley.
After graduating from high school Allen joined the U.S. Navy and served his country in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Also, he served on vessels NTS, Great Lakes, ILL, Com. Squad 83 and Carrier Aircraft Serv. Unit 5. He received the Pacific Theater Ribbon with (2) stars, Good Conduct Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal.
Allen was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946 and married the former Sarah Marie Seward and together had a daughter Judy Hurley Gustafson. Later he married the former Ann Reid Malkus.
Allen was employed 40+ years as an accountant with Cambridge Wire Cloth.
He was an avid Orioles fan and looked forward to watching all their games.
Surviving him is a stepson Patrick Malkus and wife Lisa of Cambridge, step-daughter Debi Book and husband Jay of Cambridge; grandchildren Matt Malkus, Olivia Malkus, Mindy Smith, Shay Smith, Tracy Pete and Leeanne Young and seven great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were both wives Sarah and Ann; daughter Judy Gustafon, step-daughter Melanie Brannock; sisters Effie Jean Roche, Doris Murphy and Phyllis Thompson.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge.
A committal service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 beginning 12 noon at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD., with military honors. Officiating will be Rev. Dale Krotee.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Allen can be made to American Cancer Society, 1315 Mt. Hermon Road., Suite D. Salisbury, MD 21804.
