Annelore Wilhelmine Kirsch Gore, age 83, of Cambridge, MD, died on October 25, 2010 at her home.
Born in Hof Saale, Bavaria, Germany on February 18, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Karl Kirsch and Wally Neufuss Kirsch.
In April of 1948 she married William Eugene Gore, who was stationed in Germany with the United States Air Force. They were married in Hof Saale, Bavaria, Germany. Then they traveled the world during her husband’s extensive military career having been stationed in Washington, D.C., Hawaii, Long Island, NY, Baltimore, MD, Spain, Washington State, Okinawa, Japan and Scott Air Force Base, Illinois before retiring to Cambridge, MD.
Mrs. Gore was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church since 1967. She was also a member of the Ruth Circle and United Methodist Women of St. Paul’s and co-chaired the annual Flower Fair. She helped to make the biscuits for Soup Days with her husband for many years.
Mrs. Gore worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for twenty years at the Eastern Shore State Hospital Center from where she retired in 1986.
Surviving beside her husband William E. “Bill” Gore, are four children William E. “Bill” Gore, Jr. and his wife Barbara Lynn “Bobbie” of Cambridge, MD, Beverly Holladay and her husband Rick of Virginia Beach, VA, Rosemary “Rosi” Travers and her husband Ricky of Cambridge, MD, Shelly Ann Brohawn and her husband Jamie also of Cambridge, MD; eleven grandchildren Dena Wanex, Jaclyn Hampton Witthoefft, Rick Travers, Jr., Ryan Travers, W. Zeb Gore, Rob Travers, Liz Holladay, Barbara Annelore Gore, Randy Travers, Jonathan William Brohawn, Emily Ann Brohawn; two great grandchildren Brooke Wanex and Amy Wanex. Her family in Germany includes a sister Ursula Endress; two brothers Werner Kirsch and Klaus Kirsch.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was a sister Erika Moser and two brothers Karl Heinz Kirsch and Hans Kirsch.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, Oct. 28th from 7 to 9 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 29th at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Cambridge, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Fred Bahr. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Gore’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made in Mrs. Gore’s memory to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 205 Maryland Avenue, Cambridge, MD 21613.
