ANNA L. MILLS
Anna L. “Tootsie” Mills, age 91, of Cambridge, MD, died on June 5, 2009 at Chesapeake Woods Center, Cambridge where she had been a resident for the past three months.
Born on October 27, 1917 at Crocheron, Dorchester County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Richard Samuel Todd and Ida Deliva Bramble Todd.
Mrs. Mills was the wife of the late Herman Monroe Mills.
Mrs. Mills was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Cambridge.
Mrs. Mills was a hairdresser many years ago having worked for Eva LeCompte before she opened her own shop Tootsie’s Beauty Salon. Mrs. Mills was also a licensed practical nurse for twenty years employed by Eastern Shore State Hospital, Cambridge, MD.
After retirement, she enjoyed working with her nephew Roy Todd, owner of Ocean Odyssey, Route 50 in Cambridge.
Surviving are three grandchildren Steve Mills and his wife Dee of Woolford, MD, Greg Mills and his wife Dana of Salem near Vienna, MD, Jeff Dempster of Salisbury, MD; three great-grandchildren Stevie Mills, Jr., Cole Mills and Adam Dempster; and several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were two sons F. Paul Mills and Monroe “Kandy” Mills, Jr., two sisters Oneita Todd and Lena Ruark and two brothers William Monroe Todd and Brady P. Todd.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9th at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Delmer Willey.
Pallbearers will be Stevie Mills, Cole Mills, Dave Pope, Gary White, Roy Todd and Hollie Robbins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made in Mrs. Mills’ memory to Special Home, 210 Henry St., Cambridge, MD 21613. Mrs. Mills resided with Sarah Jackson at Special Home in Cambridge for the last five and a half years.
