Eda Audrey Orr
Eda Audrey Orr, age 84, of Salisbury, MD, died at her home, Sunday evening, February 17, 2008.
Born on January 30, 1924 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Henry Seagrave Carrington and Evelyn Waller Carrington.
After attending Miss Nightingale’s and The Spence School, she moved to the Eastern Shore when her parents retired to their home in Cambridge and hunting lodge on Taylor’s Island.
Her husband of almost fifty years, John Ellis Orr of Cambridge, predeceased her on October 20, 1993.
A lifelong lover of animals, she was an early volunteer for Dorchester County Humane Society and always had a dog by her side. During WWII she supported the war effort by working at the Crown Cork & Seal plant in Baltimore. After her marriage, she lived in Easton and was a long time resident on Kent Island. Mrs. Orr is survived by two sons, Henry Carrington Orr of Syracuse, NY and his wife Susan, Gerald Douglas Orr of Caroline County; a daughter Audrey Ellis Orr of Salisbury, MD; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by four nieces and their families; her sister-in-law Mrs. George M. Orr of Oxford, MD; and a devoted cousin Mrs. L. Waite Waller of Ocean City, MD.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High St., Cambridge, MD. Graveside service and interment will be conducted privately at the family plot at Old Trinity Church in Church Creek, MD.
