Betty Conn

Betty Burton Conn, age 81, of Cambridge, MD died early Sunday morning, September 11, 2011 at Dorchester General Hospital.

Born on July 26, 1930 in Cambridge, MD, she was the daughter of the late John E. Burton and Susie Irene Willey Burton.

On November 24, 1954 she married Gordon Conn. He passed away on August 10, 1978.

Mrs. Conn was a dedicated member of the Cambridge Wesleyan Church in which she served as treasurer for several years and director of the Best Years Fellowship.

Mrs. Conn had worked for Phillips Packing Company, The National Bank of Cambridge, and the Dorchester County Treasurers Office where she served as the Deputy Treasurer until her retirement.

Mrs. Conn was a lady of great faith and devotion to her Lord. She loved her family and was so very proud of them and was certainly well known for her excellent cooking.

Surviving are Steven Conn and his wife Wendy, John Conn and his wife Stephanie and Scott Conn and his wife Jackie; ten grandchildren Marcia Spicer and her husband Tee, Susan Conn, Steven Conn, Jr. and his wife Brittni, Jennifer Conn, John Conn, Jr. and Jacob Conn, Irene Whaley and her husband Chris, Jessica White and her husband Kyle, Dianna Conn, Sarah Conn; four great-grandchildren Logan Spicer, Gordon Spicer, Madalyn Spicer and Makayla Whaley; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were three sisters Irene Elizabeth Burton, Louise Willis, Jeanette Asplen; and two brothers James L. Burton and William Ellsworth "Jack" Burton.

The family will receive friends Monday night (tonight) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13th at Cambridge Wesleyan Church, Race St., Cambridge. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Jack Diehl, Pastor of the Cambridge Wesleyan Church and The Rev. M. Scott Conn, son of the deceased. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steven Conn, Jr., John Conn, Jr., Thomas Spicer, Jr., Chris Whaley, Kyle White, Bo Chaffman and Calvin Yelverton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Conn, Logan Spicer and Gordon Spicer.
