Donna Maria Era

Donna Maria Era, 62, of Linkwood, Maryland passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at the UMSMC at Easton.

Born in Cambridge, Maryland on January 2, 1962, she was one of six children of the late Norman (Sonny) Era, Sr. and Barbara Hughes Era.

She attended the local schools in Dorchester County and held several different positions before she was placed on disability due to a work injury. 

Donna was a family person, and she dearly loved her siblings and their families. Her most cherished accomplishment was giving birth to her son Arvie Joseph Ruark with her life-time partner of 45 years, Elmer Ruark, Jr. 

Spending time with her family was one of the most important things in Donna’s life. She was blessed with 3 grandchildren whom she adored. She always had a pot of coffee ready for friends and family to stop in for a chat. Playing bingo was a favorite pastime and going on cruises with family and friends was a highlight. Donna enjoyed working on the water alongside Elmer and would help with daily tasks such as culling crabs and baiting the lines. 

Surviving Donna is her life-time partner Elmer; her son Arvie Joseph Ruark and his wife Claire; grandchildren Maddox, Bennett and Ruby Ruark; siblings Norman (Butch) Era, Jr. and his wife Patsy, Michael (Mikey) Era (Donna Dickerson), Angel Biskach and her husband Danny and Michelle (Shelly) Era; many nieces and nephews and the Ruark family which she considered her sisters and brothers-in-law; close friend Lori Turner.

Preceding her in death beside her parents was a brother James (Jim) Era, Sr. and her best friend Kim Shilow.

A visitation and celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High St., Cambridge, MD.
