DORA P. PARKS

Dora P. Parks, age 92, of Wingate, MD, died Thursday night, August 28, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital, Cambridge.

Born on February 26, 1916 at Hoopers Island, Dorchester County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Rosa E. Parks and Logan B. Parks.

In 1930 she married Albert Franklin Parks. He died on February 12, 1987.

Since the early age of thirteen, Mrs. Parks has worked as a crab picker for George Powley Seafood and later Tideland Seafood where she decided to retire at the age of 85.

Mrs. Parks was known as "Pink Lady', for that was her CB radio handle. She enjoyed grocery shopping, watching soap operas on television and crocheting.

Surviving are five daughters Rose Marie Ruark and her husband Edgar of Church Creek, MD, Sarah Brooks and her husband Phil of Cambridge, MD, Rebecca Foxwell and her husband Wayne of Lakesville, Caroline Webb and her husband John of Wingate, MD, Wanda Elzey and her husband David of Cambridge, MD; two sisters Martha Ann Dean of Kent Island, MD, Magdalene Mills of Church Creek, MD; a brother Logan W. Parks of Woolford, MD; sister-in-law Dot Parks of Woolford, MD; eleven grandchildren Ricki Foxwell, Troy Foxwell, Timmy Foxwell, Scott Foxwell, Frankie Foxwell, Michael Wingate, Juanita Wingate, Wendy Wingate, John Webb Jr., Carmel Marie Webb, Wanda Lee Elzey, twenty one great-grandchildren Brandi Nicole Vickers, Tabitha Elzey, Robert John Webb, Terry Woolcott, Kim Elzey, David Elzey Jr, Brandy Foxwell, Audrey Foxwell, Chad Foxwell, Lucas Foxwell, Jodi Jackson, Cody Foxwell, Corey Foxwell, Christopher Foxwell, Zachary Foxwell, Brieann Foxwell, Aliza Coffman, Jordan Coffman, Chloe Turner, Macy Turner and Savannah Elzey; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were three sisters Maude Flowers, Flora M. Parks Lewis, Rhida Yoemans; three brothers G. Asbury Parks, John Parks and Charles Parks; two sisters-in-law Doris Parks and Rosalie Parks; four brothers-in-law Delmas Dean, Vaughn Flowers, Shriver Mills, John Yoemans,

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Dorchester Memorial Park. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Joseph C. Harmon, Pastor of Cambridge Wesleyan Church.

Pallbearers will be Chris Turner, Lenny Hopkins, John Webb Jr., Ricky Foxwell, Scott Foxwell and David Schasel.

Arrangements are in the care of Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge.
