Dorene E. Trego, 68, of East New Market, Maryland passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York.
Born on January 19, 1955 in Easton, Maryland she was the daughter of the late James Martin Callahan and Elizabeth Mildred Rampmeyer Callahan.
Dorene attended the local schools and graduated from Easton High School with the class of 1974.
On September 21, 1974 she married Jack L. Trego and together raised four children in the East New Market area.
Dorene and her husband Jack owned and operated Home Is Where the Heart Is Assisted Living for 28 years. When her children were young she was a certified daycare provider. Dorene was the type of person who loved taking care of others.
In her spare time she enjoyed working in her flower garden, cooking, canning, baking cakes for special occasions and working with crafts. Jack considered her the best cook around. Dorene loved everyone and everything but her family was No. 1 in her life and she always made sure they were taken care of. She had plenty of practice at a young age taking care of her six brothers. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
Surviving Dorene is her husband Jack; children Jennifer Elizabeth Trego and her wife Mena Nepa, Angela Christina McPherson and her husband Douglas, Patrick Joseph Trego and Sarah Michelle Bishop and her husband Aaron; grandchildren Alex McPherson, Duncan Trego, Autumn McPherson, Trinity Bishop and Ares Bishop; brothers Richard, Stephen, Keith, Greg and Jeffrey Callahan.
Preceded in her death besides her parents was a brother Michael Callahan.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 beginning 12 noon at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, Cambridge with her brother, Keith Callahan officiating. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow the service at East New Market Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dorene’s family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, 308 High St., Cambridge, MD 21613 to help defray funeral cost.
