Dorothy C. “Dot” Palamaras, 93, of Salem passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Chesapeake Woods Center, Cambridge.
Born April 17, 1921 in Lakesville, she was a daughter of the late Cassandra Fitzhugh and Roland Insley. After attending local schools Dot married her sweetheart, Archie Palamaras, on July 5, 1945. Together they enjoyed almost 56 years of marriage. Archie passed away May 12, 2001.
For most of her life she was a homemaker. She greatly enjoyed her family and loved having them around. Dot was fond of card and board games, always like to play bingo. At times she could be seen crocheting something for family or a friend and always enjoyed her garden.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and regularly attended up till her health no longer allowed.
Surviving is a son Archie Palamaras, Jr., and wife Diana of Cambridge; daughter Donna Hurley and husband T-Berry of Salem; a brother Billy Insley of Harrington, DE; grandchildren Mark Hurley, Shannon Palamaras, Shane Palamaras, Rusty Hurley, Cathy Gore and Nick Palamaras, Jr.; twelve great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was a son Nick Edward Palamaras; grandson Brian Edward Hurley; brothers, Levin Insley, Harold Insley, Joseph Insley, Roland Insley, Jr., George Insley; sisters Marie Davenport, Ruby Handley and Hilda Byrd.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 beginning 11:00 a.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge. Rev. D. J. Wooten, Sr. will officiate.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Dot can be made to Salem United Methodist Church, c/o Joe Layton, 4448 New Bridge Road, Vienna, MD 21869.
