Dwayne Simmons

Dwayne Eddie Simmons, 47, of Hoopersville, Maryland, passed away suddenly at his home on August 27, 2016.

Born December 17, 1968, he was the son of Curtis and Patricia Simmons. Eddie always loved the water, becoming a commercial fisherman aboard his vessel the “Proud Pup.” On March 4, 1989, Eddie married his childhood best friend, Bobbie Jo. Eddie and Bobbie were forever together, working side by side.

The peace and passion he found in hunting was something he shared with his wife and then daughters. Everyone who knew Eddie knew that he lived for his three girls. Eddie was nothing short of a hero and best friend to his wife and daughters. His friends found him to be an honest, hard-working, selfless family man, who was compassionate to all those around him.

Eddie is survived by his wife; daughters Jessica and husband Chris Brown, Ashley and fiancé Ryan Mitchell, and youngest daughter Samantha. In addition, Eddie was a proud Pop-pop to grandson, Junior Brown. Eddie talked most about Junior being his hunting buddy and being on the boat together. The love between Eddie and his lab, Detroit, showed what a strong bond they had.

In addition to his wife, daughters, and grandson, Eddie is survived by his loving and supportive parents Curtis and Patricia; close sister Hennie and husband Joe Hayden; grandparents Edwin and Eva Jane Simmons; Aunt Donna Lovell; his in-laws Dale and Minnie Insley along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Open Bible Church, 1619 Race Street, Cambridge beginning 4:00 pm., with Pastor Mark Farnell officiating. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Eddie Simmons Memorial Fund at 1880 Bank, PO Box 550, Cambridge, MD 21613 with proceeds going to his 3 daughters.

Arrangements entrusted to Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A.
