EMMA CREIGHTON
Emma Frances Andrews Creighton, age 90, of Cambridge, MD, died at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday evening, November 9, 2011.
Born on March 17, 1921 in Andrews, Dorchester County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Albert Andrews and Addie Sweenie Fitzhugh Andrews.
In 1940 she married Hobart Creighton and he died in 1974.
Emma had lived in Dorchester County for most of her life. She had picked crabs for Oscar Nelson on Hoopers Island, then worked at canning factories, Rob Roy, and as an aide at House of the Pines in Easton, MD.
Her hobbies were puzzle books and puzzles.
Emma’s greatest joy was her family, whom she deeply loved.
Surviving are five children Cora Tyler of Hoopers Island, MD, Cleveland “Butch” Creighton and his wife Nancy of Hoopers Island, MD, Dottie Coffey of Cambridge, MD, Hobart Creighton and his wife Cindy of Lisbon, MD, Rankin Creighton of Cambridge, MD; a sister Edna Sard of Federalsburg, MD; nineteen grandchildren; forty four great-grandchildren; twenty two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her cat Pretty Boy and dog Ivy Lou.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was a daughter Brooksie J. Wright; two sons-in-law Lonnie Coffey and David Tyler; ten siblings James Emerson Andrews, Stella Marie Andrews, Thomas James Andrews, Myrtle Andrews, Medford Woodrow Andrews, Emma Louise Andrews, William Alvin Andrews, William Goldsborough Andrews, Margaret Louvenia Andrew, Martha Madeline Andrews and Manie Madeline Andrews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13th at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Windy Hill Cemetery, Trappe, MD.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Ray Coffey, Joey Coffey, Lonnie Malinowski, Andrew Malinowski, Christopher Malinowski and Rankin Scott Creighton, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Tyler and Tom Demarest.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to the funeral home at 308 High St, Cambridge, MD 21613 to offset the burial expenses.
