Evelyn Thomas

Evelyn S. Thomas, 104, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Chesapeake Woods Center, Cambridge.
Born in the Neck District on November 10, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Georgia Marshall Wingate.
She attended local schools and graduated from Cambridge High School with the Class of 1926. She attended and graduated from Goldey College in Wilmington, DE. She married William W. Thomas and together were blessed with two children. Mr. Thomas died in 1946.
Mrs. Thomas attended Spedden United Methodist Church where she was the organist for 30 years.
She contributed her longevity of life to living right, eating right and her faith in the Good Lord.
Surviving her is a daughter Marlene Thomas Sanders of Westminster, MD; grandchildren Robert S. Thomas (Bobby) and wife Gayla, Allison Thomas Scharch and husband Michael, Donna L. Sanders and husband Scott Amtsberg, Daniel W. Sanders and wife Rebecca; great grandchildren Jessica and Michael Scharch, Olivia and Ottilie Amtsberg, Rae and Ali Sanders; great great granddaughter Madison Zimmerman; daughter-in-law Melanie Thomas.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was a son Gordon S. Thomas and son-in-law John H. Sanders.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 beginning 2 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge. Officiating will be Pastor Pam Bockart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Evelyn may be sent to Spedden United Methodist Church, c/o Carolyn Wright, 507 Gay Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
