Fay F. Dennis, 78, of Vienna, MD, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD with her family by her side.
Born on January 12, 1936 in Cambridge, MD, she was a daughter of the late Sarah Katherine Sneed Forester and Darley Lee Forester.
Fay graduated from Vienna High School with the class of 1954 and Salisbury University with a Masters in Education. She was a teacher and principal for the Dorchester County School system for many years.
Fay always took pride and great satisfaction in teaching and helping to develop young minds.
On July 3, 1954 she married William Harold Dennis and together raised three beautiful children.
She was very active at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Vienna and held various positions on their vestry. Fay was a member of the Maryland State Teacher’s Association, Dorchester Educators, National Teacher’s Association, Who’s Who of Educators and was a former Town Council Member of Vienna.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, sailing, researching genealogy, watching sports on TV and was a big Orioles and Ravens fan.
Surviving her besides her husband of 60 plus years is a son William Mark Dennis and his wife Becky; two daughters Teresa Lynn Dennis Ewing and Barbara Anne Dennis Mauk; grandsons Stephen Todd Ewing, William Kane Dennis, Brad Mark Dennis, Richard Hunter Mauk, Eric W. Mahon and Brian J. Mahon; granddaughter Brittney Nicole Mauk; a brother Paul Richard Forester; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was a brother James Darley Forester and half-sister Ollie May Perry.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2014 beginning 12:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Vienna. Officiating will be Father Dennis Morgan. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Beulah.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Fay can be made to either the Vienna Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 5, Vienna, MD 21869 or to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 3, Vienna, MD 21869.
Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Ewing, Kane Dennis, Brad Dennis, Hunter Mauk, Eric Mahon and Brian Mahon.
