Flora “Diane” Willey, 75, of Linkwood, Maryland passed away on Wednesday morning, May 1, 2024 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
She was born July 28, 1948 on Hoopers Island to the late Ruth Todd Miller and Robert Miller.
Diane attended South Dorchester High School where she played field hockey and graduated with the class of 1966.
On November 9, 1979 she married Levin Insley Willey and were happily married for over 44 years. Together they raised one son.
Diane worked many years as an office manager for the accounting firm Trice, Geary, and Myers, first in Cambridge, then later in Salisbury.
She was a member and attended Grace United Methodist Church in Cambridge when she was able. She was a long-time member of the Quota Club serving in various leadership roles and traveled to many places with them, including California and Canada. She was a member of the Women of Faith and enjoyed going on trips with them. She found enjoyment in yard work and planting flowers in all four of her flower beds. Diane and her husband loved to go bird watching and traveled to Virginia and Delaware to find all types of birds.
Diane is survived by her husband Levin; her son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Lilia Willey of Salisbury; grandson Sean Willey; sisters Pam Miller Cusick and Cindy Miller Boluk; her good friend and caregiver Helen Griffiths; friends Margaret Pennewell and Donna Noble; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Bobby” Miller.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge beginning 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Joe Kelly officiating. A viewing will be held an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock at 1p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Willey, Bryan Abbott, Howard Patchett, Sean Willey, Tyler Henry, and Scott Aaron.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Diane’s name can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1850 York Road-Suite D., Timonium, MD 21093.
