Freida Newcomb

Freida L. Newcomb, 85, of Cambridge passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, April 13, 2016 at Mallard Bay Care Center.

Born February 23, 1931on Elliott Island, she was a daughter of the late Annie Gray and Claude Dayton. She graduated from the local schools. In 1952 she married Robert Leroy Newcomb. They were blessed with four children and enjoyed 37 years together before his passing in 1989.

Freida was a loving homemaker for most of her life. She greatly enjoyed her family and neighbors. Always being fond of animals, she loved dogs and caring for stray cats. Her sweet gentle smile will be missed by all.

Surviving are her children Robert Leroy Newcomb, Jr. and wife Grace, William Newcomb, Twila Mae Newcomb and Dorothy Newcomb; sisters Peggy Gray, Marian Travers, Joan Insley and husband Dickie along with a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Monday, April 18, 2016 from 11:30 am till 12:30 pm at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge.

Graveside services will follow beginning 1:00 pm at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge. Officiating will be Pastor Joe Kelly.

Serving as pallbearers will be family members.
