Geoffrey Katoll Mahon, 63, of Cambridge MD died September 16, 2014 in Baltimore. Born in New York City on August 5, 1951, Geoffrey was the son of the late Jean and James Mahon of Camden, NY where Geoff attended Camden Central Schools. He graduated from The Berkshire School in Sheffield Massachusetts where he excelled in skiing, ski jumping and playing baseball. After graduating from MacMurray College in Jacksonville IL, Geoff started his career in insurance on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He transitioned to sales with Spedden Marine in Cambridge MD for the remainder of his career.
Geoff’s love of sports continued throughout his life. He coached soccer, biked, skied and was ranked in MD Seniors Tennis. In particular he enjoyed and encouraged his two sons’ love of sports. His sons Eric William Mahon and Brian James Mahon both live Baltimore.
Geoff is survived by his sons Eric and Brian of Baltimore as well as his sister Leslie Mahon Merry (Remington) of Centerville, OH; his nephews Remington James Merry and John Law Merry of Centerville; his niece Hannah Shaw Merry of Chicago, IL; his first cousins Elizabeth Mahon Hitchman of Clyde Hill, WA, David Mahon of Ponte Vedra, FL, Sarah Brodt Lenz of Rosemont, MN, and Amy Brodt Powell of Boca Raton, FL.
A memorial celebration of Geoffrey’s life will be held on Oct 4, 2014 at the VFW in Cambridge MD. A subsequent celebration will be held in the Camden NY area on a date to be determined.
