CAMBRIDGE, MD. Georgia Shirley Wallace, a woman esteemed for her tremendous artistic and culinary talents, died peacefully of lung cancer on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at her “Neck District” home. Mrs. Wallace, who was also known for her charm, humor and flair, had been married for 35 years to David H. Wallace, Jr., who was at her bedside when she passed away.

Mrs. Wallace, who was 64, is survived by: her mother Jacqueline Shirley; her sister Nanette Shaffer; her adult children and their spouses Leah and Jeffery Kilduff, William Marshall and Mary Edmiston, Jessica Wallace and Madoline Wallace; as well as her grandchildren Megan, Sean and Brenden Kilduff.

After graduating from Wicomico Senior High School, Mrs. Wallace honed her artistic talents at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Fine Arts. Mrs. Wallace’s creative endeavors included portrait and seascape painting, cartooning, interior designing and gardening.

Mrs. Wallace was born in Swathmore, PA, but lived most of her life in Salisbury, where she attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. The Wallaces moved to Cambridge in 1997, where Mrs. Wallace acted as a lay officiant at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church on the corner High and Church Streets in Cambridge, with Father Richard Hayes officiating. The Service will be followed by a reception at the Wallaces’ Cambridge home, “Quiet Water Farm,” at 1142 Hudson Road from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1213 Hudson Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
