Glendon “Glen” L. Cheesman, 67, of Newport News, Virginia, formerly of East New Market, MD passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at his home.
Born on December 6, 1946 in Big Springs, Texas, he was a son of the late Merle Mansfield and James Cheesman, Jr.
For most of his life he lived in the area but re-located to Virginia thirteen years ago.
Glen worked as a log truck driver for many years and at that time was given the nickname “Sidewinder” by his fellow employees. Before his health forced him to retire, he worked as a mechanic at McGrath Maintenance. Glen was a very kind person with a big heart.
Surviving him is a daughter Michele Anderson and husband William of Newport News, VA; son Kenny Cheesman and wife Barbara of Federalsburg, MD; sister Phyllis Young and husband Pete of Linkwood, MD; brothers Ronald Cheesman and wife Jeanette of Knoxville, Tennessee, Gene Cheesman and wife Paulette of Hurlock, MD, Gary Cheesman and wife Linda of Vienna, MD; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 beginning 1 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge, MD. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Pastor Jason Bleyer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, 308 High Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 to help defray the funeral cost.
