Herbert "Junior" North, Jr.

Herbert R. “Junior” North, Jr., 81 of Griffith Neck passed away on June 19, 2021 at his home.

Born on October 23, 1939 at home in Vienna, Maryland, he was the son of the late Herbert R. North, Sr. and Osceola Abbott North.

Junior was a true farmer through and through.  He left school early to work with his father on the family farm and continued farming as his health allowed him.

He joined the National Guard and served over ten years in the early 60’s.

On August 31, 2016, he married the former Barbara Rippons.

Junior was of Native American decent and was very proud of his heritage.  He was a member of Bucktown United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially farming.  He was a regular at the Outdoor Show and won the championship one year for the muskrat skinning contest.  Junior enjoyed watching baseball and his favorite team was the Orioles.  Also, Saturday night wrestling (WWE) had become a favorite of his.

He loved his family and will be missed by them and all who knew him.

Junior is survived by his wife Barbara; his children Debbie Murphy, Tim North (Dori Weber), Terri Greene and her husband Mike, Pam Elliott and her husband Duane, Buddy Lewis, Barbie Phillips and Holly Huffer and her husband Jeff; grandchildren Mandy Peters, Jessica Rodriguez, Robby and Hunter MacLauchlan, Bradley and Matthew Elliott, Leon and Levin Lewis; great grandchildren Zachary and Myra Peters, Nora Rodriguez, Levy and Lily Lewis; sister Thelma Cook; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in his death were two sister’s Becky Trice and Miriam Willey; son-in-law Tom Murphy; his first wife and mother of his children, Brenda Asplen and his dog and best buddy Buford.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Bucktown United Methodist Church, 4346 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD beginning 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tish Nance-Sproson officiating.  A viewing and visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow the service in the adjoining cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Elliott, Zachary Peters, Andrew Brooks, Mike Greene, Mike Trice, Hunter and Robbie MacLauchlan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Wagner, Clark Wagner, Lou Robbins and Phillip Jackson.
