Herman Staats

Herman Hazel Staats, 80, of Federalsburg, Maryland passed from this earthly life to life eternal with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 28, 2016. He died peacefully at home with family by his side.

Born on September 16, 1936 in Dover, Delaware, he was the son of a farmer, Anderson Ford Staats and wife Mary Staats. Although he enjoyed farming and loved tractors, it wasn't to be his livelihood.

Herman married Betty Borthwick on September 12, 1959 and supported his family by working for the Federal Government in Newark, DE, Southern States in Clayton and Georgetown, DE, Vlasic Foods in Millsboro, DE and RSC Landscaping in Millsboro.

He enjoyed traveling with his family and seeing the beautiful sights of the United States. He had a love for animals. Herman loved sharing stories with anyone who would sit and chat.

He is survived by his wife Betty B. Staats; three children Cheryl Fehr-Banks, Beverly Stephens-Herbst and Herman F. Staats; five grandchildren Hillary, Chase, Kelly, Christopher and Heather; thirteen great grandchildren; sister Mary Ann McNatt. In addition to countless individuals who have adopted him as either "Dad" or "Pop Pop" because of how special he was.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 beginning 11 a.m. at Countryside Christian Church, 5333 Austin Road, Cambridge, MD. Officiating at the service will be Johnny Herbst.

Family will receive friends in fellowship after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Herman's name can be made to Countryside Christian Church.
