Irene R. Hulseberg, age 94, of Easton and Cambridge, Maryland died peacefully January 10, 2010 at Chesapeake Woods Center, Cambridge.
Born on May 27, 1915 in Chicago Illinois, she was the daughter of Paul Cholewa and Rose Gourka Cholewa of Bellwood, Illinois.
In 1935 she married Elmer Hulseberg, and was happily married for 66 years until he died January 18, 2001.
Irene was an active member of her church, was the Sunshine Lady of her Polish Club, a member of the Illinois Bell retirees club, as well as the Moose and Elk Clubs. She worked for Sears Roebuck for several years, and for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 28 years. She was an excellent dancer, an accomplished seamstress, painted beautiful landscapes in oils, and worked on pottery glazes. Irene was a highly competitive card player, and in her later years an avid bingo player as well. She is remembered by all for her shining smile, good humor and elegant style in all situations.
Surviving are two daughters Jacqueline Hulseberg Bowen and her husband David Claiborne Bowen of St. Augustine Florida and Ocean City Maryland and Judith Hulseberg Scott of Cambridge Maryland; a granddaughter Victoria Judith Lavia and her husband Joseph Lavia of Severna Park, MD; and two great-grandchildren James and Alison Lavia.
Irene’s family thank the staff at Chesapeake Woods for their loving care.
A Time of Reflection will be held at Chesapeake Woods Center Dining Room at 4:30 on Thursday, January 14th, where the family will receive friends an hour prior.
Inurnment will be held privately at a later date in Arkansas.
