Isabelle J. Shelly, 88 years of age, of Cambridge, MD, died on February 5, 2011 at the Chesapeake Woods Center, Cambridge, MD. She had been in failing health for several years.

Born on October 30, 1922 in Cambridge, MD, she was the daughter of the late J. Wilbur Jarrett and Tina Naomi Downey Jarrett, who were prominent timber and landowners of Dorchester County.

Mrs. Shelly was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Class of 1939 and also a graduate of Strayers Business College, Baltimore, MD. She worked for her father for a short while and then became employed at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center, Cambridge as a nurse where she retired.

Mrs. Shelly was a life-long member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Cambridge.

Mrs. Shelly was a Charter Member of the Ladies of the Moose # 1211, Cambridge and was a member of the Maryland Nurses Association.

Surviving are three sons Samuel L. Shelly and his wife Susan M., of East New Market, MD, Stuart Shelly of Easton, MD, Raymond H. Shelly, Jr. and his wife Beverly of Cambridge, MD; a sister Marion Ricko of Jacksonville, FL; a brother J. Wilbert Jarrett, Jr. of Poteau, OK; six grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was a brother Samuel W. Jarrett, a nose gunner in a B24 bomber who died during World War II in service to his country, and her divorced husband Raymond H. Shelly, Sr who was of South Carolina.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9th at Immanuel Church of Christ, 5401 White Hall Rd., Cambridge, MD, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Anne Swallow Gillis, Interim Pastor of Immanuel United Church of Christ and The Rev. Joan Evans, Former Pastor. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge.

Pallbearers will be David Shelly, Mark Kozak, Charles Robinson, Philip Jackson, Sr., Mark Eberspacher and Wallace Dodson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Rosemarie Albites, Roland Webster and The Rev. Douglas Albert.

Memorial offerings may be made in Mrs. Shelly's memory to Immanuel Church of Christ, 5401 White Hall Rd., Cambridge, MD 21613.
