James I. Huff, 56, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully early Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Mallard Bay Care Center.
Born in Easton on December 18, 1957, James was a son of Moira Fraser Huff and the late Leon Dean Huff, Sr. After attending the local schools, he joined the U.S. Army. James was a Medical Specialist Paratrooper and served with distinction with the 82nd Airborne.
Upon completing his service to his country, James traveled around the country. A free spirited colorful individual, he enjoyed seeing this wonderful country from sea to shining sea. Afterwards he returned to the Shore and worked in the health care industry. For a number of years he was a landscaper but his chronic illness led to his early disability. James was a good hearted man, would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His family and friends will always remember his keen sense of humor which he kept right till the end in spite of his illness.
As a young man James was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Easton. He was a member of the American Legion Post 91 and the Cambridge Moose Lodge #1211.
Surviving is his mother, Moira Huff of Easton; his partner of 15 years Joyce Cell; sister Moira Ann Morris and husband “Buck” of Centreville, MD; niece Chrissy Morris; nephew Cody Morris; daughter Tina L. Huff of Laurel, DE; grandchildren Dean Huff and Kelsie Wooters; along with numerous cousins.
Preceding him in death besides his father was a brother Leon Dean Huff, Jr.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 beginning 1:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church, North Washington Street, Easton, MD.
A private graveside service will be held at Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Hurlock, MD with military honors.
