JAMES R. HURLEY, SR.

James Robert Hurley, Sr., age 76, of Cambridge, MD, died Saturday evening, March 5, 2011 at his home.

Born on November 12, 1934 in Vienna, MD, he was the son of the late Milton Hurley and Effie Gray Hurley of Elliott Island.

Mr. Hurley was a graduate of Vienna High School.

Mr. Hurley worked for Chun King, RJ Reynolds, and Delmonte for thirty one years. He also had worked for Wal-Mart for eleven years.

Mr. Hurley’s hobbies were hunting, fishing and coin collecting. He was a member of the Cambridge Coin Club.

On December 3, 1965 he married the former Carolyn Virginia Condon.

Surviving besides his wife of 45 years, Carolyn V. Hurley, are three children Diane Manning of Merritt Island, FL, James Robert Hurley, Jr., and Carol Ann Dunn, both of Cambridge, MD; a step-son William F. “Billy” Wilson, also of Cambridge, MD; a brother Milton “Pete” Hurley of Hebron, MD; nine grandchildren Lauren R. Hurley, James Robert Hurley, III, Hailey E. Hurley, April D. Mongan, Lindsey N. Wilson, Taylor M. Moran, Michelle Wills, Cody Manning, Sarah Manning; two great-grandchildren Miles M. Mongan and Marcus M. Mongan; niece and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was an infant son Robert Dean Hurley; two sisters Etha Hurley Brinsfield and Betty Hurley Majors; two brothers Milford M. Hurley and Earl E. Hurley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8th at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Dave Wooten. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be William Wilson, Tim Dunn, Earl Hurley, Russell Wallace Hurley, James E. Hurley, III and Dickie Insley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made in Mr. Hurley’s memory to the Dorchester Humane Society, 4930 Bucktown Rd., Cambridge, MD 21613.
