James Valliant

James Edward Valliant, age 67, of Cambridge, MD, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at Dorchester General Hospital.

Born on April 30, 1943 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Martin Edward Valliant and Grace Shirley Christopher Valliant. He was raised by his maternal grandparents the late James S. Christopher and Mary Ida Thomas Christopher.

Mr. Valliant was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Class of 1961.

After graduation, he served his country in the US Navy from August 7, 1961 to July 26, 1965. He then served in the US Air Force from May 28, 1969 to December 22, 1972.

For awhile he lived in Hollywood, Florida before returning to Cambridge.

Mr. Valliant was a member of the American Legion Post #91.

He liked to fish and loved his pets.

Surviving is his daughter Karen L. Stauffer and her husband Mark; three grandchildren Lindsay, Nicholas and Madison Stauffer all of Glen Burnie, MD; six sisters Wanda Hurley and her husband Skip, Carol Perry and her husband Pete, Shelley Collins, Terry Stewart, Robin Rohner, Tina Newnam and her husband David, all of Cambridge, MD; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet Buddy.

Preceding him in death besides his parents and grandparents were his pets Tonya and Bella.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 1st at 1:00 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Thomas W. Hurley. Burial will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD with Military Honors.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Expressions of sympathy may be made by either sending flowers or making memorial offerings in Mr. Valliant’s memory to the Dorchester Humane Society, 4930 Bucktown Rd., Cambridge, MD 21613
