Jane M.P. Levy, age 94, a resident of the Neck District, Cambridge, for the last eleven years, died at home on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009.
Born Jane Maud Plowman on May 21, 1915,in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Agnes Patterson Plowman.
Having been educated in Scottish public schools, she attended the University of Glasgow and was also a graduate of Anne Arundel Community College. During World War II, after working as an emergency dispatcher in Glasgow, she joined the R.A.F. (Royal Air Force), becoming a meteorologist.
While in the service, she met T/Sgt.Lester Levy, of Bronx, New York. They were married on Dec. 7, 1944. Mr. Levy died in 1991.
A lifelong British subject, Mrs. Levy resided in the United States since 1946. She worked in retail sales, bookkeeping and as a homemaker. She lived in Glen Burnie, for 31 years, and then retired to Ocala, Florida. She resided with her son in Cambridge at the time of her passing.
Surviving is her son, Richard M.P. Levy and daughter-in-law Terry L. Volmer, both of Cambridge.
Preceding her in death, besides her husband of 49 years, were two brothers, George Plowman and Andrew Plowman, both of Scotland.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 2, at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High St., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
In lieu of flowers memorial offerings may made to the charity of one's choice.
