Joan Russello

Joan Russello, age 93, of Cambridge, Maryland, died Wednesday morning, September 23, 2015 at Mallard Bay Care Center, Cambridge.
Born on November 3, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Florence Powers.
On December 12, 1941 she married Michael Russello, her husband of sixty-eight years. Mr. Russello died on July 6, 2010.
From Brooklyn, NY she and her husband moved to Mechanicsville, MD where they resided for thirty-three years. In 2005 they moved to Cambridge, MD and became members of St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church.
Her hobbies included crabbing, singing, dancing, bike riding, swimming and roller skating. Mrs. Russello loved her family and was very proud of them.
Surviving are her four daughters Geraldine Cusumano of Norwich, NY, Carol Griffith and her husband Bill of Cambridge, MD, DiAnn Terrone and her husband Joseph of Rehoboth and JoAnn Brewster and her husband William of Hooksett, NH; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 27 nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband Michael, were four sisters, Margaret Powers, Florence Powers, Doris Barry and her husband Dinny, Helen Cannon and her husband Steve; four brothers Charles Powers and his wife Dot, Alfred Powers, Jack Powers and Richard Powers and his wife June; two brother-in-laws Joseph Russello and his wife Jane, Vincent Russello and his wife Rose; son-in-law Vincent Cusumano.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 25, 2015 at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, 308 High St., Cambridge, MD from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, September 26, 2015 at St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church, Glasgow St. and Hambrooks Blvd., Cambridge. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Celebrant of the Mass will be The Rev. William Lawler, Rector.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church, P.0. Box 218, Cambridge, MD 21613.
