J. RALPH MILLER

John Ralph Miller, age 86, formerly of Cambridge, MD, died Tuesday evening, November 20, 2007 at William Hill Manor, Easton, MD.

Born on December 2, 1920 at Castle Haven, Cambridge, Dorchester County, MD, he was the son of the late John Miller and Edith Dodson Miller.

Mr. Miller served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He utilized the GI bill to afford agricultural classes.

On June 30, 1941 he married the former Edna Schaffner.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church.

Mr. Miller was a farmer and caretaker for the DuPont Estate at Horn Point. He was also a diesel mechanic.

Mr. Miller was an active member of Lloyds Vol. Fire Dept. where he served as Past Chief and was also an honorary member of Rescue Fire Company, Cambridge, MD.

He was a past president of the Eastern Shore Threshermen & Collectors Assoc., Inc.

Surviving besides his wife of 66 years, Edna S. Miller, formerly of Cambridge and presently of Easton, MD, are four children Lana Parker of Georgetown, DE, Wendy Wright of Cambridge, MD, Patricia Knox of Cambridge, MD, Steven Miller of Easton, MD, a sister Betty Robbins of Cambridge, MD, six grandchildren Jimmy Wright, Brian Parker, Joey Wright, Aimee Parker, Tiffany Short and Michael Gore and several great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was a son Ralph Leslie Miller, a sister Thelma Knox and two brothers William Miller and Wayne Miller.

A memorial service will be held at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. on Tuesday, November 27th at 11:00 a.m. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Honored guests of Lloyds Vol. Fire Dept. and Rescue Fire Company, Cambridge will be present at the service. Military Honors will follow at the conclusion of the service at the funeral home.
