JOSEPH A. TEDESCO
Joseph Augustine Tedesco, age 64, of Cambridge, MD, died Thursday morning, March 19, 2009 at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD.
Born on November 16, 1944 in Port Chester, NY, he was the son of the late Alfonso Tedesco and Luigina Gambora Tedsco.
Joe, as he was affectionately known, was a graduate of Parks College at St. Louis University, 1965 as an Aeronautical Engineer. He then graduated from Southern Illinois University as an Industrial Engineer. In 1990, Joe received his Masters of Business Administration from Wilmington College.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Joe served his country from April 30, 1966 to December 19, 1971 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
On July 20, 1991 he married the former Patricia Bathory Shellabarger.
Joe had worked for Scott Paper Company in Mobile, Alabama. He then later worked for Western Publishing in Fayetteville, NC and was transferred to Cambridge, MD. He was instrumental in the work simplification, industrial engineering and the development of defense mapping project for Cambridge, MD.
Joe was intelligent, artistic, liked classical music, built model airplanes and was an avid reader particularly on the subject of military history.
Joe had a great sense of humor, was a fantastic story teller and simply enjoyed life. He will be incredibly missed by all who knew him.
Joe was a member of the V.F.W. Cambridge Post 7460 and a member of his much enjoyed Breakfast Club with friends.
Surviving besides his wife of seventeen years Patty Tedesco of Cambridge, MD are two sons Joseph Anthony Tedesco and his wife Linda of San Antonio, TX, David Andrew Tedesco and his wife Danielle of Rome, GA; a step-son Bart Shellabarger and his wife Mary of Hebron, MD; a sister Susan Gagliardi and her husband Carmine of Scarsdale, NY; four grandchildren Caraline Shellabarger, Calyn Shellabarger, Madestyn Shellabarger and Scotty Cannon; an expecting granddaughter in May named Sara; and several friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 1:00 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Cambridge, MD, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
