Julia A. Willey, age 69, of Cambridge, MD, died Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury, MD.
Born on February 3, 1941 in Cambridge, MD, she was the daughter of the late Hank and Hilda McClain Greene.
Julia received her education in Dorchester County, where she was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Class of 1957.
On June 15, 1958 she married Phillip W. Willey, Sr.
Her working career began at Rob Roy, but shortly thereafter she became employed at Airpax where she remained a faithful employee for 33 years before retiring in 1997. Following retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher at Sandy Hill Elementary school until 1999. Julia also worked with her sister for a number of years at Joyce's Hair Fashions.
Julia was a past member of Souls Harbor Church of God, where she had served as Sunday school teacher and president of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends.
Surviving besides her husband of 52 years, Phillip W. Willey, Sr of East New Market, MD is a son Phillip Willey, Jr. and his wife Mary of Elizabeth City, NC; a daughter Lisa Schuyler and her husband Thomas of East New Market, MD; three grandchildren Steven Schuyler, Sarah Schuyler and David Willey; one great-grandchild Amelia Schuyler; a sister Joyce Newcomb and her husband James "Jimmy" of Cambridge, MD; two brothers Marvin Greene and his wife Shirley of Crisfield and Rev. Charles Greene and his wife Bonnie of Seaford, DE. Surviving are also several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, especially her niece Kelly Greene who was instrumental in coordinating her medical needs over the past few years.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was a sister Irita Greene.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, November 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 29th at the funeral home where the family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be The Rev. Delmer Willey. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Willey, Kenny Johnson, Kenny Harrison, Jay Newcomb, David Willey and Steven Schuyler.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial offerings be made in Julia's memory to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733.
