Laura Rebecca Schultz

Laura Rebecca Elliott Schultz, 91, of Cambridge, Maryland died on Friday, July 14, 2023 at her home with her daughter and caregiver at her side.

Born on May 27, 1932 in Cambridge, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Milford W. Elliott, Sr. and Mary Burton Elliott.

She was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Class of 1949.

On January 13, 1951 she married Russell Frederick Schultz, Sr.  While traveling with her husband, who was in the Navy, they lived in Seattle, Washington, San Diego and Alameda, California.  Mr. Schultz died on May 18, 2008.

Mrs. Schultz worked for Western Publishing Co., for twenty six years retiring in May of 1994.  She and her husband loved visiting Pennsylvania Amish country and it was nothing for them to decide to go out to dinner and end up in Amish country.  She had a lifelong love of crocheting, which her mother taught to her when she was young.  She crocheted approximately 150 lap robes for Veterans over the years, which were distributed by the VFW.  Volunteering at the front desk at Dorchester General Hospital was also something she liked to do.  She loved talking, so that job was perfect for her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her.

Surviving is a daughter Rebecca Herbert of Woolford, MD; a son Russell F. Schultz, Jr., special daughter-in-law Mary Ann of Hurlock, MD; a brother Davis Elliott (Bev) of Cambridge, MD and a sister Kaye Greig of Milton, DE; grandchildren Mandi Sena (Charles), Laurie Krizmanich (Jason) and Ryan Schultz (Theresa); great grandchildren Kaiden Sena, Aria Sena, Logan Krizmanich, Hunter Schultz, Dylan Krizmanich and Wyatt Schultz; several nieces and nephews and her wonderful  caregivers who loved Mrs. Schultz and helped her through this journey,  Pama Morrow, Helen Katinas, Caitlyn Taylor, Patti DeWitt and Julie Jones.  The family would also like to thank Coastal Hospice for the love and care shown to Mrs. Schultz during her illness.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were brothers Milford Elliott, Jr., sister-in-law Emma, William Elliott and sister-in-law Peggy, a brother-in-law Dick Greig, former brother-in-law, Donald Todd and nephew Bunk Elliott,.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 beginning 11:30 a.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High St. Cambridge, MD with Pastor Betsy Jones officiating.  Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.  Interment will be held at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD following the service at 1:00 pm.

Serving as pallbearers will be Laurie Krizmanich, Ryan Schultz, Charlie Sena, Kaiden Sena, Scott Todd and Bobby Herbert.

Honorary pallbearer will be Mandi Sena.
