Leonard Peters

Leonard Marinus Peters, age 35, of East New Market, MD died early Thursday morning, July 22, 2010 where he was pronounced dead at Dorchester General Hospital, Cambridge, MD.

Born on January 31, 1975 in Dover, NJ, he was the biological son of the late Leonard Marinus Peters who died shortly after his son’s birth and Gail Ogle Peters Dawson of East New Market, MD. He was raised by his biological mother and step-father Melvin Allen Onsager of Norwich, CT. He is also the step-son of Kathy Onsager of Norwich, CT and Ray Dawson of East New Market, MD.

“Big L”, as he was known, was a graduate of Cherryville High School in Cherryville, North Carolina, Class of 1993.

While Big L was employed, he was an electrician for over ten years.

Big L enjoyed playing on the computer and video games. He enjoyed life and being a friend to anyone he met. He loved his family dearly.

Surviving besides his parents and step-parents is a maternal grandmother Catherine A. Thomas of Dover, NJ; paternal grandmother Irene Onsager of Stetsonville, WI; five children Larry Allen Bolen of Cherryville, NC, Jeremy Dallas Bolen of Cherryville, NC, Samantha Michelle Peters of East New Market, MD, Joseph Michael Pike of Cambridge, MD, Leonard Marinus Peters, Jr. of Cambridge, MD; a sister Sheila Ellen Bell of Hurlock, MD; a brother Edward David Peters and his wife Mandy of Hurlock, MD; five step-brothers; three aunts Linda Sieboth of NC, Penny Jane Burian and Kathy Barkman, both of New Jersey; two nieces Ashley Dawn Bell, Myra Ann Peters; three nephews Jordan Scott Bell, Zachary Edward Peters and Austin Roland Allen Greene.

Preceding him in death was his maternal grandfather Isaac Jesse Ogle; paternal grandfather Norman Onsager; an aunt Madeline Vanestenbridge; and uncle William Peters.

Funeral services, led by family and friends, will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 27th at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., where the family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the funeral home to assist with the cost.
