Logan W. Parks, Sr., age 90, of Woolford, MD, died early Monday morning on his birthday, June 28, 2010 at Dorchester General Hospital.
Born on June 28, 1920 in Hoopersville, MD, he was the son of the late Logan Benjamin Parks and Rosa Woodland Parks.
On August 7, 1939 he married the former Doris Ruark and they were married for 66 years when she died on February 1, 2006.
Mr. Parks was a self-employed waterman. His hobby was hunting.
From 1953-1954 he was a foreman with Merritt, Chapman & Scott Pile Drivers Company on the first Chesapeake Bay Bridge. In 1956 he was the foreman on the bridge at Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. After that project, he returned to Maryland where he built homes in the Curtis Bay area of Baltimore.
In 1973 he and his brother John bought the 2 Mile House and in 1975 he
bought the Carousel Inn on Rt. 16 until 1986 when he returned to working
on the water.
Surviving is his son Logan W. Parks, Jr. and his wife Bonnie of East New Market, MD; three grandchildren Logan W. Parks, III, Phil Parks, and Jeanell Todd; four great-grandchildren Logan Parks, IV, Paige Marie Parks, Kailie Nicole Todd and Regan Faith Parks; two sisters Martha Dean of Kent Island, MD and Magdaline Mills of Church Creek, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife was his son Lannie P. Parks and seven siblings Asbury Parks, Flora Parks, Rida Yoeman, Maude Flowers, Dora Parks, Johnny Parks and Charles Parks.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Delmer Willey. Inurnment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the church or charity of one's choice.
