Major Edward L. Pierce (Ret. Salvation Army),age 72, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formally of Cambridge, MD, departed this life Friday morning, August 7, 2015, at Tidelands Community Hospice in Georgetown, SC.
Edward was born July 3, 1943 in Dalton, GA, the son of the late Arthur M. and B.D. Mulkey Pierce.
On August 12, 1967 he married Captain Geraldyne Aull. They served forty three years in The Salvation Army before retiring in 2003.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was his wife of forty years, Major Geraldyne Aull Pierce (Ret. Salvation Army), brothers James B. Pierce and George L. Pierce.
Surviving is a son Darrin Myers(Crystal) and five grand children; four sisters Martha Greer(Larry) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Laura Byers(Bob Akins) and Norma Greene(Robert) of Dalton, GA and Edna Franklin(Stanley) of Harrison, AR.; sister-in-law Mae Dell Pierce of Dalton, GA.; several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are special friends Majors Robert and Beatrice Hopper and Majors Lamar and Louise Foreman of Gainesville, GA, Major DeRue Hoffman and Alice Murdock of Cambridge, MD, Major Mary Ashby of Dalton, GA. Also, there are many other friends he made throughout his ministry.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening August 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A. 308 High Street ,Cambridge, MD., Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, August 12th at The Salvation Army Church, 200 Washington St., Cambridge, MD. Officiating Officer will be Colonel William Crabson. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge, MD.
Pallbearers will be Michael Lyons, Mike Edgar, Terry Crannell, John Griffiths, Roy Robbins and Matthew Paul.
Expressions of sympathy may be made by either sending flowers or making memorial offerings in Mr. Pierce’s memory to The Salvation Army, PO Box 91, Cambridge, MD 21613.
