Marie A. Perry

April 6, 1929 — March 10, 2022

Marie A. Perry

Following a long illness, Marie A. Perry, 92, died peacefully in her Cambridge home on March 10, 2022.

She was born Marie Antoinette Hutson on April 6, 1929 in Cumberland, Maryland to Margaret Beckman Hutson and Edward Lee Hutson.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and two older brothers, Raymond and Earl Hutson.

She attended Cumberland area schools and while a teenager she volunteered as a WWII Civilian Aircraft Spotter with the Army Ground Observer Corps.

Marie earned an AA Degree from Potomac State College.  She then began a long career in telecommunications from which she retired in 1986.

In 1960 Marie married Jack Allen Perry.  Their shared love of the water drew them to Paw Paw Point on Cambridge Fishing Creek, where they built their forever home.

While still able, Marie enjoyed entertaining friends at her home.  She loved collecting arrowheads along the shore, sharing morning walks with friends and her regular Friday luncheons at Suicide Bridge Restaurant.  But her greatest loves by far were her husband of 62 years Jack and their beloved beagle Buddy.

Marie will be interred at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.  In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.

She will be missed and remembered fondly by many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marie’s name can be sent to White Haven United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 35, Church Creek, MD 21622 or Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.

Arrangements entrusted to Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, Cambridge.
