Marjorie A. Christopher, 81, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully Friday, October 10, 2014 at Chesapeake Woods Center.
Born in Cambridge on October 20, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Hilda Ruark Parker and Morgan Parker. She attended local schools and graduated from Cambridge High.
In her earlier years she worked at the Cambridge Shirt Factory. She also had worked in the downtown Woolworth’s store. However, for over 25 years was a waitress and short order cook at Dalom’s, which was formerly Poor Paul’s, and Jenny’s Place.
Marjorie was a wonderful mother to her three children. She was an avid reader, enjoyed all types of books but especially mysteries. She was known to have boxes full of books that she had finished and always ready for more. Marjorie loved baseball and it was a favorite summertime pastime. While in her house you better be a Yankee’s fan because she dearly loved the boys in pin stripes. No other team fans would be tolerated.
The past nine years had been difficult for Marjorie. The effects of dementia had taken away from her the enjoyments she treasured but her family devotion stayed strong till the end. The family cannot thank the staff of Chesapeake Woods Center enough for the wonderful care she received during her extended stay there.
Surviving are her daughters Janet Robbins and husband Donald, Cathie Spedden and husband Robert; son William G. Brown and his companion Leah Bradshaw; brother Robert Parker and wife Beau; sisters Loretta George and husband Bob, Audrey Johnson and husband Bill; grandchildren ; great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband John Christopher and a sister Gladys Reid.
