Marlene Burgess

Marlene Ann (Sage) Burgess of Maysville, West Virginia passed away at age 84 in Cambridge, Maryland on January 1, 2019.

Born on February 19, 1934 in Fairmont, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Clara Virginia Sage and Russell Dean Sage.

She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1951.

Marlene was a Customer Service Rep. at Delmarva Blood Bank until retiring in 2003.

At a young age, Marlene loved to play the organ and taught piano.  She was a talented seamstress and always had a project in the works.

She is survived by her sons Fred Burgess and David Burgess of Cambridge, MD; daughter Cindy Burgess(John Osborne) of Deale, MD; brother Dean Sage and wife Betty of Conners, GA; grandchildren Derek Huebner and wife Megan of Deale, MD, Chris Huebner and fiancé Emily Waters of Bowie, MD; great grandchildren Camryn, Austin and Delaney Jo.

She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Burgess and her husband Robert Burgess.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 beginning 11 a.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High St., Cambridge.  Officiating will be Rev. Steve Bloodsworth.  Private interment will be held at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery.
