Marvin Stanley, Sr

Marvin O. Stanley Sr. (Pop), 84, of Linkwood, MD passed away peacefully on January 31, 2016 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on August 19, 1931 in Supply, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Ettie Lovett.
On October 20,1956, Marvin married the late Esther Priscilla Stanley of Fishing Creek, MD. In 1959 they moved to North Carolina. They returned to Fishing Creek in 1971. Esther passed away March 8, 2005.
Marvin worked for Charles E. Brohawn Inc. in Cambridge, MD before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, working in his garden, visiting with his friend Peggy Squires and spending time with his great grandchildren. He was a very loving pop pop to his grandchildren. All will miss his perpetual smile.
Marvin is survived by his four children Marvin Stanley Jr. of Cambridge, MD, Bobby & wife Sandy Stanley of Fishing Creek, MD, Cecilia Wingate of Cambridge, MD, Wanda & husband Brian Smith of Cambridge, MD; adopted daughter Megan Stevens also of Cambridge, MD; grandchildren Eric Stanley of Linkwood, MD, James Greenlee Sr.of Cambridge, MD, Jennifer Stevens of Cambridge, MD. , Matthew Wingate of Cambridge, MD, Heather and husband Scott Creighton of Linkwood, MD and Andrew Stanley of Cambridge, MD; great grandchildren Kobe Stevens, Brianna Nicholas, Jayden Stevens, Cole Compton, Kaleb Wingate, James Greenlee Jr. and Sophia Stanley.
Also surviving are his brothers Bobby Lovett and Dewey Lovett; niece Wanda and her husband John Stephens of North Carolina as well as lifelong friend Alfonza Roach and wife Jetti.
A service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 beginning 1:00 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge. A viewing for friends and family will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Officiating the service will be Pastor David Talley of Grace Baptist Church of Hurlock MD.
Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Creighton, James Greenlee Sr., Brian Smith, Andrew Stanley, Eric Stanley, Chuck Davis and Jonathan Prahl.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Marvin's name Coastal Hospice at the Lake, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
