Matthew W.”Matt” Lauck, 35, of Secretary, Maryland passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
Born May 8, 1984 in Cambridge, Maryland he was the son of James Wayne Lauck and Judy Dodson Lauck and Mac Thomas.
Matt attended the local schools and graduated from NDHS with the Class of 2002.
After graduating, Matt wasn’t sure what career he would want to pursue, until he was drawn to law enforcement. He graduated from the police academy and landed a position as a police officer for the City of Cambridge. Matt truly loved his career until one day he was injured in the line of duty and was forced into early retirement. That was a sad day for him. He would continue to be a lifelong brother of the FOP.
Matt was a sports enthusiast and loved the Orioles, Lions and the Capitals. He was a sports memorabilia collector. Gaming with his brother-in-law Billy, his best friend Bill and his nephews was fun times for him. His grandparents could always count on Matt to stop by and play many card games with them. He loved mustangs especially the red ones, going to rock concerts and going out to dinner with his family. There was a very special “little boy” in his life, his son Jace, who he truly adored. The love between a father and son was so evident to anyone who saw them together. Matt will be missed by all who knew him. His family will be forever heartbroken but will cherish all the memories.
Matt is survived by his son Jace Emery Lauck; his parents; sisters Angie Abey (Billy), Heather Lauck; brother Jimmy Lauck; step brother Charlie Perry; step sister Shana Morgan; niece Averi Lauck; nephews Trey Abey, Sr., Landon Abey, Lane Abey and Ayden Sparks; paternal grandparents James “Dugar” and Anita “Sugar” Lauck; special friends Bill Whaley and Leigh Tomey; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
