Paulette S. Travers
Paulette Smith Travers, 71, of Cambridge passed away peacefully Saturday evening, December 6, 2014 at Chesapeake Woods Center, Cambridge.
Born May 26, 1943 in Dorchester County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Joseph Smith and Helen Collins Smith. She attended local schools in the area. After school she began her career with the Eastern Shore Hospital Center in the housekeeping department. She retired with over 32 years of service.
Paulette loved the outdoors. She enjoyed going shopping with her friends. Always a regular patron of Dairy Queen, she considered that one of her favorite places on earth. Before her health declined she had attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her children Darrell Johnson, Jr. and his wife Christy, Donald Johnson, Sr. and wife Melissa, Randall Travers and companion Rae; brother William Smith; grandchildren Crystal Presley, Aimee Wilkins, James Johnson, Donald Johnson, Jr., Jeremy Ashton, Scott Cameron, Jr., Candice Johnson, Jason Brinsfield and Christopher Brinsfield; four great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are her close friends Joan Bradley, Ovetta and Bubby Creighton, and Annabelle Hurley.
Preceding Paulette in death besides her parents was a sister Kay McCarter.
A visitation with family will be held Tuesday evening, December 9, 2014 form 6 till 8 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, Cambridge.
