Phillip W. Willey, Sr., 80, of Cambridge passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 25, 2017 at UMSMC@Easton. His loving family was at his side.
Phillip was born October 15, 1936 near Jacktown, to the late Rommie T. and Beulah Robbins Willey. In 1958 he married Julia A. Greene, she died in 2010.
In Phillips’ early years, he worked on the Handley family farm, Morris Transmissions, Pritchett’s Transportation and drove the mail truck. For a short period of time he ran a service station in Jacktown with his brother in law, Marvin. Phillip spent the bulk of his career at Cambridge Wire Cloth and Maryland Wire Belts. He retired in 2001. He served his country in the National Guard.
Phillip was loved in his neighborhood helping anyone in need and mowing yards for numerous years, right up to his unfortunate passing. He cherished his friends and neighbors, especially breakfast at Denny’s with his brother in law Jimmy.
Mr. Willey is survived by his son Phillip, Jr. (Mary) Elizabeth City NC, daughter Lisa Schuyler (Thomas) Woolford, MD; grandchildren whom he loved dearly, David Willey, Steven Schuyler, Sarah Travers and his 4 great grandchildren, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his twin sister Phyliss Harrison and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother Rommie (Tommy) Willey, Jr.
A viewing will be held on Monday evening, May 29, 2017 from 6 -8 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 beginning 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev’s Samuel Briscoe and A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Dorchester Memorial Park.
