RAYMOND E. LOYD
Raymond Emmett Loyd, age 47, formerly of Cambridge, MD, died at his home in Rising Sun, MD, on Sunday, March 20, 2008.
Born on January 20, 1961 in Cambridge, MD, he was the son of Raymond S. Loyd of Cambridge, MD and the late Elma McGinn Loyd.
Ray was educated at Sts. Peter and Paul Elementary School and was a graduate of Cambridge South Dorchester High School, Class of 1979.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served his country from 1981 to 1985 with receiving an honorable discharge.
He had worked as a lineman for Southern Maryland Electrical Cooperative in Leonardtown and as a contractual employee with Miss Utility in Dorchester County.
Ray enjoyed camping, fishing, being outdoors and music. He loved dogs and was known for his kindness to others.
Surviving besides his father, Raymond S. Loyd of Cambridge, is a son Joshua Howard Loyd and his wife Cassie of South Beloit, Illinois; three grandchildren John Loyd, Clayton Loyd and Mason Loyd of South Beloit, Illinois; four sisters Toni Powers of Hurlock, MD, Theresa Taylor and her husband David of Lexington Park, MD, Jeanne Loyd of Hurlock, MD and Lisa Varner and her husband Paul of Secretary, MD; nieces and nephews Robert Powers, Jr. of South Orange, NJ, Stephanie Taylor, Elaine Taylor, Madeleine Taylor all of Lexington Park, MD, Melissa Foxwell of Hurlock, MD, and Kyle Varner of Secretary, MD.
Besides Ray’s mother Elma McGinn Loyd, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Robert Powers.
A memorial service followed with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, April 3rd at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Denzil Cheek.
