ROBERT W. COX, SR.
Robert W. Cox, Sr., age 81, of Cambridge, MD, died Sunday morning, March 2, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital, Cambridge, MD.
Born on March 18, 1926 in Cambridge, Maryland, he was the son of the late Howard T. and Flora G. Cox. He attended school in Dorchester County and graduated Cambridge High School in 1943.
On July 21, 1946 he married the former Punkie (Ethel Lee) Swing. She died on Nov. 17, 1996.
Mr. Cox served his country in the Army Air Corp.
For several years he owned and operated Cox’s TV Repair and also Bob Cox’s Pool Center specializing in the installation and maintenance of pools.
Bob was a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church, Cambridge and was very active in volunteering for the Soup Days.
Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 91, social member of the VFW Post 7460, Past Commodore of the Cambridge Yacht Club and member of the Silver Wings Fraternity “Aviation Pathfinders”.
As a licensed pilot, his passion was flying. Bob also enjoyed playing golf and boating.
On May 2, 1998 he married the former Kae Bell.
Surviving is his wife of ten years, Kae E. Cox of Cambridge, MD; a daughter Kit Bradshaw of East New Market, MD; a son Robert W. “Butch” Cox, Jr. of North Carolina; a granddaughter Karen E. Messick of Kentucky; a sister Doris Messick of Cambridge, MD; a brother Howard T. Cox, Jr. of North Carolina; a step-daughter Susan B. Lewis of Cambridge, MD; a step-granddaughter Lisa R. Webster; and a step-great-granddaughter Lexi Webster.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and first wife were brothers William B. Cox of Pennsylvania and Emerson W. Cox of Cambridge.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 4th at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Church and High Streets, Cambridge. The family will receive friends at the American Legion in Cambridge immediately following the service. Officiating at the service will The Rev. Michael D. Reddig, Rector.

Cremation was entrusted to Mid Shore Cremation Center.
