Robert Francis Geisler, known to his loved ones as Bob, passed away on September 14, 2023, suffering from Aggressive Prostate Cancer and Congestive Heart Failure, at the age of 81. Born on April 8, 1942, in Washington, DC, Bob was the son of the late Anthony Aloysius Geisler and Anna Victoria Geisler. He was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony "Tony" Geisler.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Catherine A. Geisler, who will forever cherish their memories together. He was a loving father to his sons Todd and David Geisler, and his daughter Julia Balsley. Bob was also a proud grandfather to Ella and Taylor Geisler, and Colton and Carmen Balsley. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul and Raymond Geisler.
Bob grew up in Chevy Chase, MD, attended parochial school at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Bethesda, MD. He went to high school at St. John's College in Washington, DC, class of 1960. He earned an Associate in Arts degree from Montgomery College and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Maryland.
On his 25th birthday he married the love of his life, Catherine Anne McFadden, whom he met through his brother Paul. They lived and raised three loving children in Olney, MD until they all graduated from college. Then they moved to the Eastern Shore to live their best life.
Throughout his career, Bob made significant contributions as an engineer. He worked at Westinghouse in Columbia, MD, General Electric in Syracuse, NY and Columbia, MD, Vitro Lab in Aspen Hill, MD, Defense Logistics Agency in Manassas, VA and the NSA at Fort Meade, MD, where he retired from in 2003.
Bob found solace in his faith and was an active member of the Catholic community. He worshipped at St. Peter's in Olney, MD, St. Mary Star of the Sea and Our Lady of Good Counsel in Dorchester County.
In his leisure time, Bob enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, gardening, playing cards and Square Dancing. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to create lasting memories with the activities he loved.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, located at 109 Willow Street, Secretary, MD 21664 with Rev. Stephen Lonek officiating. Burial will follow the service in the adjoining cemetery. A reception will be held at their home at 1617 Deep Water Road, Woolford, MD 21677 following the burial.
Bob will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished, and his legacy will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
