Ruth Short

Ruth Alene Walters Short, 81, of Hudson passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at UMSMC at Dorchester.
Born on March 25, 1932 in Crapo, Dorchester County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Walters and Bessie Bradford Walters.
On April 10, 1954 she married Ira Washington Short, Jr. Mr. Short passed away on September 13, 1999.
Mrs. Short had worked for Crocheron Crab House, Brady Todd Seafood and J.M. Clayton Company. She also worked at Airpax for fifteen years. Her latest employment was at the Board of Education as a custodian.
Mrs. Short’s hobbies were crabbing and fishing.
Surviving are six children Ira Washington Short, III and companion Linda Johnson of Centreville, MD, Thomas Woodrow Short of Hudson, MD, Samuel David Short and his wife Edna Mae of Taylors Island, MD, Betty Rose Racine and her husband Mike of Hurlock, MD, William Edward Short and his wife Wanda of Toddville, MD, Della Elizabeth Pritchett of Cambridge, MD; a sister Barbara Ann Silva of Salisbury, MD; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one step- grandchild, three step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was a brother Dewey Walters and a sister Sylvia Moore.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013 beginning 2:00 p.m. at the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Pam Bockart . Burial will follow at the Ebenezer Church Cemetery, Crapo, MD.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Walters, Doug Walters, Bruce Lewis, Frank Bell, Donnie Montgomery, Shelia Montgomery, Michael Racine and Derek Edge.
