Sharon R. Shockley, 69, of Cambridge, Maryland, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at Chesapeake Woods Center, Cambridge.
Born April 10, 1945 in Cambridge, she was a daughter of the late Dorothy Short and Guy Aaron. After attending the local schools in the area she went to work with the Rob Roy Company as a seamstress and later had worked with Coldwater Seafood.
On September 26, 1997, Sharon became the wife of Leon Shockley. She was a loving wife and together they enjoyed going on camping trips. As an avid Oriole fan, she followed the team through the bad times as well as the good. She loved her family and her dog Taylor, who was like one of her children.
The family is so thankful for the wonderful care she received during her stay at Chesapeake Woods Center. They will forever be grateful for the compassion shown during her stay.
Surviving besides her husband Leon are step-children Melody Adkins and husband Gary of Cambridge, Kathy Swann and husband Dickie of East New Market, Laura Velasquez and husband Lino of Secretary, Leon Shockley and wife Allison of Salisbury; sister Jeannie Harding and husband Jimmy; brother William Aaron; grandchildren Brad Adkins and wife Jessica, Amy Foxwell and husband Rob, Zach Swann, Gabrielle Swann, Spencer Davidson, Olivia Davidson and Tyler Shockley; great-grandchildren Preston and Paxton Adkins; several nieces and nephews along with her beloved dog Taylor.
Preceding her in death besides her parents is a sister Doris Laird.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014 beginning 11:00 a.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge. Officiating the service will be Mrs. Faye Meyer and Sharon’s family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Zach Swann, Spencer Davidson, Brad Adkins, Tyler Shockley, Brian Harding and Jimmy Harding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Sharon can be made to Chesapeake Woods Residents Council Fund, 525 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.
