Shirley J. Reis, 78, of Elliott Island, Maryland passed away at her home June 29, 2015 with her loving family at her side.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Blanch Virginia Blackburn Kirschbaum and Robert Leroy Kirschbaum. On January 9, 1954 she married her sweetheart William Alexander Reis at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Baltimore. Together they enjoyed over 61 years of marriage.
Shirley was a devoted housewife to her Marine Corp veteran husband and a loving mother to their three daughters. She was a member of the Atonement Lutheran Church in Baltimore and a member of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary. Shirley and Bill had moved to Elliott with their daughter in 2007.
Surviving besides her husband Bill are daughters Deborah Shives and husband Don of Elliot Island, Pamela Reis of Baltimore: grandsons Ken Wallace and Chris Wallace both of Baltimore; granddaughters Jennifer Forsythe of Millersville and Kim Soto of Baltimore; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was a daughter Terrie Wallace now in the arms of the Lord.
A viewing will be held for family and friends Wednesday evening, July 1, 2015 from 7:00 till 9:00 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High Street, Cambridge, MD.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 also at the funeral home beginning 12:30 p.m. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Pastor Newton Trimmer. Interment will follow at Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with a committal service in the chapel beginning 2:00 p.m.
