Stephanie Lynn Collins Merritt, 39, of Mooresville, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
She was born on June 14, 1977 in Easton, Maryland to William Edward Collins, Sr. and Cynthia Budd Lewis.
Stephanie had a passion for being a great mom and for living life to its fullest. No one was a stranger to her. When she would meet you on the street you could always be greeted with a smile and a “How are you today.” Stephanie was a very compassionate person and that led her into a career as a registered nurse. She enjoyed antique shopping and was very crafty. Stephanie also loved to sing. She will truly be missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her husband Jeffery Wayne Merritt; daughter Kendall Alexandra McKinney; mother Cynthia L. Lewis and step-father Stump Lewis; father William Edward Collins, Sr. and step-mother Lisa Collins; grandparents Charles Budd and Joyce Collins; sister Michelle Collins; brothers Brian Lewis, Ed Collins ( Marcia) and Adam Lewis and wife Kasie; brother-in-law Stephen Merritt and wife Andrea; sister-in-law Terri Lynn Merritt; nieces and nephews Willow, Brantley, Justin, Austin, Victoria, Andrew, Matthew and Gracie Belle; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
Stephanie is preceded in death by grandparents Mary Lou Budd, Calvert Lee Collins, Jenni Lewis and William K. Lewis.
A Celebration of Stephanie’s life will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 beginning 2:00 p.m. at East New Market Fire House, 4020 E. N. Market Bypass, East New Market, Maryland. Officiating will be Kim Adams.
Family will receive friends from 12 to 2 at the fire house and request everyone to please dress casual.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to the college fund for Kendall at SunTrust Bank, c/o Courtney Warfel or Tammy Wood, 232 Williamson Road, Mooresville, NC 28117.
